Selecting the Right Waste: A Technical Guide

Answer: Why does the waste type matter?

The waste is the final connection between your sanitary ware and your drainage system. Choosing the incorrect waste—or a low-quality component—is a common cause of leaks and slow drainage. We categorise our wastes by their mechanical function and compatibility, ensuring you find the right fit for your specific basin, bath, or shower tray.

Essential Waste Categories

Basin Wastes: Choose from Slotted (for basins with an overflow) or Unslotted (for basins without an overflow). We offer convenient Click-Clack (Push-Button), Pop-up, and classic Free-flow options in various finishes to match your taps.
Bath Wastes: From standard Chain & Plug sets to modern Cable-Operated systems, our bath wastes are designed to handle the high-volume flow needed to fill and empty your tub quickly.
Shower Wastes: Engineered for high-flow capacity, our shower traps and wastes ensure water doesn't pool in your tray. We carry specialist 90mm fast-flow traps that are compatible with most standard acrylic and stone resin trays.

Considerations Before You Buy

The Overflow Test: Always check if your basin has an internal overflow hole. If it does, you must use a "Slotted" waste; using an "Unslotted" waste in an overflow basin will cause the basin to overflow onto your floor rather than draining through the internal system.
Compatibility & Finishes: To achieve a premium "designer" look, match the finish of your waste (e.g., Brushed Brass, Matte Black, or Chrome) to your basin or bath mixer.
Waste Diameter: While most UK standard basins use a 1 ¼" (32mm) thread, always verify the manufacturer's specifications for your basin, as some designer or "vessel" basins may require non-standard sizing.
Trap Accessibility: If you are installing a bath waste, ensure the trap is accessible via an inspection panel in case of future blockages.
