Selecting the Right Basin: Style, Space, and Installation

Answer: How do I choose the best basin for my bathroom?

The basin is the most frequently used fixture in the bathroom. Beyond its visual impact, selecting the right model depends on your available space, your choice of furniture or pedestal, and your existing plumbing configuration. Our collection features premium-grade vitreous china and fine fireclay, chosen for their resistance to staining, scratching, and chemical wear.

Core Basin Categories

Countertop Basins: The choice for modern, boutique-style bathrooms. These "vessel" sinks sit proudly atop a vanity unit or shelf, turning your plumbing into a statement piece.
Wall-Hung Basins: Perfect for maximising floor space and achieving a clean, minimalist aesthetic. These are ideal for smaller en-suites or "cloakroom" bathrooms where footprint is at a premium.
Inset & Undermount Basins: Designed to be integrated directly into your vanity unit. Inset basins feature a rim that sits on the worktop, while undermount versions sit beneath, offering a seamless, easy-to-clean transition.
Pedestal & Semi-Pedestal Basins: A classic, versatile option. The semi-pedestal is especially popular as it conceals the waste trap while keeping the floor area clear for a lighter look.

Technical Considerations Before You Buy

Tap Hole Configuration: Ensure your basin matches your intended tap. Are you using a single-lever monobloc (one hole), a two-handle mixer (two holes), or a wall-mounted tap (zero holes)?
Overflow Requirements: Not all basins come with an overflow. If your chosen basin lacks one, ensure your waste kit is specifically designed for a "non-overflow" basin to prevent leaks.
Space & Reach: If choosing a countertop basin, ensure your tap is a "high-rise" or "tall" version, so it has enough reach and height to clear the rim of the basin comfortably.
Material & Maintenance: High-quality ceramic is the industry standard for durability. If you are opting for decorative finishes or stone-resin, check the manufacturer's cleaning guide to ensure you don't use abrasive cleaners that could dull the surface.
