Choosing the Right Sink Waste for Your Kitchen

Why does the waste finish matter?

While often overlooked, the sink waste is the final piece of your kitchen design puzzle. Beyond its function—draining water efficiently and trapping debris—the waste should coordinate with your kitchen tap and cabinet hardware. Our collection features premium materials designed to resist corrosion and staining, ensuring that your sink area remains as hygienic as it is stylish.

Core Waste Categories

Basket Strainer Wastes: The essential choice for most kitchens. These allow you to easily trap food scraps and debris, preventing them from entering your plumbing system and causing clogs.
Pop-Up & Remote Wastes: Designed for convenience, these allow you to open or close the drain via a small control knob on the sink deck, keeping your hands away from potentially dirty dishwater.
Designer Finishes: We stock a wide range of finishes—including brushed brass, matte black, and industrial copper—specifically designed to match our leading tap collections.
Overflow Wastes: If your sink has an integrated overflow, you must select an overflow-compatible waste kit to ensure water can safely drain should the sink be overfilled.

Technical Considerations Before You Buy

Sink Hole Diameter: Most standard kitchen sinks feature a 90mm (3.5 inch) waste hole. However, always verify your sink’s specifications to ensure a watertight seal.
Plumbing Compatibility: Check your pipework diameter and setup. Whether you are installing a standard trap or a space-saving plumbing kit, ensure your new waste kit matches your existing configuration.
Material Integrity: Avoid cheap plastic wastes in high-traffic kitchens. Look for high-grade stainless steel or solid brass bodies, which provide the structural rigidity required for long-term, drip-free use.
Waste Basket vs. Plug: Consider how you use your sink. If you frequently soak dishes, a reliable plug is essential. If you want to avoid blockages, a robust basket strainer is the superior choice.
