Bathroom Design: 5 Mistakes People Regret
WHICH recently published an article on the 5 things people wished they had done differently in their bathroom design. You can read the article here. This blog looks at how Plumb-Warehouse can help you avoid those mistakes.
Not Having a Separate Shower
Bathrooms are often small rooms forcing compromise into the design for the room. A common compromise is to buy a L-Shape bath with a screen to accommodate a shower at the end of the bath. 1 in 7 people surveyed wished they hadn’t done this. They said they wished they had had installed a separate shower enclosure instead. It is possible to get a space saving, quadrant shower that will fit into a corner space in the bathroom.
If you wish to consider that, you can view Plumb-Warehouse’s range of quadrant shower enclosures here.
Not Enough Storage
Again, this is sometimes driven by the need to save space. But there are many innovative space saving storage options available. And of course, the units themselves add to the bathroom design.
Firstly think through what you would like to store and how much space you will need. Then you can look for storage options such as: Vanity Units, Mirror Cabinets and Wall Hung Cabinets which allow you to store things while taking up little or no floor space.
The Design and Quality of the Products in the Bathroom
Bathroom Design is not just about the look of the bathroom. It is about long term practicality. At Plumb-Warehouse, we often get calls from people needing to replace a tap or bath panel that is only a few years old. Avoid this buy choosing products made from appropriate water proof materials and which have long manufacturer guarantees.
Poor Ventilation
If possible, make sure your bathroom design includes a window which opens or has a vent. Also include an extractor fan. And make sure to use either, or both, the fan and opening whenever taking a shower or bath.
Impractical Bathroom Design
Common issues include toilet seats that don’t have enough space to remain upright, doors that open up to a piece for furniture of part of the ceramic suite. Often, choosing a smaller pan, basin or unit is a better choice than the larger one which prevents a door from opening.
