Un heated Towel Rails
We sometimes get enquiries about whether it is possible to use a heated towel rail – as just a towel rail. That is – to put it on the wall but not to connect it to a heat source.
Customers want to do this as the heated towel rails are stylish and practical. Often more so than a standard towel rail that is screwed to the wall and holds only one or 2 towels. For example people use them in a kitchen to hang a towel, a tea towel and their oven gloves.
Heated towel rails come in a wider range of shapes, finishes and sizes.
They are hollow – as they need to allow the hot water from the central heating system to flow through. And they have holes at the bottom to connect to the central heating pipework.
In order to use them as un heated towel rails, the fixings for the pipework are replaced by ‘blanking plugs’. These tidy up the bottom of the towel rail so that it looks properly finished.
So it is perfectly possible to take a heated towel rail and use it as just a towel rail.
Our full range of towel rails is here.
In order to buy one in its un heated form, please order the ‘central heating only’ option from the dropdown list. And then reply to our order confirmation saying you would prefer blanking plugs to the usual fixings.
