Choosing the Perfect Square Shower Tray
Why is the tray the most important part of your shower?
While the showerhead and valve often get the spotlight, the shower tray is the structural foundation of your entire showering area. A high-quality square tray must provide three things: a perfectly level surface for the enclosure to sit on, robust resistance to flexion (to prevent leaks), and a stylish, low-maintenance finish. Whether you are fitting a standard 760mm quadrant-style alternative or a spacious 1000mm square tray, our collection is curated to meet the highest standards of bathroom engineering.
Core Tray Categories
-
Low-Profile Trays: The modern standard. These trays sit nearly flush with the floor, creating a minimalist, seamless look that is easier to step into.
-
Stone Resin Trays: Renowned for their incredible strength and rigidity. These trays are heavy-duty, feel solid underfoot, and are highly resistant to scratching or cracking.
-
Anti-Slip Finishes: Prioritizing safety in the home, our anti-slip range features an integrated textured finish that provides extra grip without compromising the tray’s sleek aesthetic.
-
Waste & Riser Kits: Many of our trays are compatible with riser leg kits, allowing you to install the tray on top of a solid floor where plumbing access beneath the floor is not possible.
Technical Considerations Before You Buy
-
Measuring Your Space: Always measure your available floor area precisely. If you are replacing an existing tray, ensure you account for any wall tiles that may overlap the tray edge to avoid purchasing a size that is slightly too small.
-
Waste Positioning: Check your current floor joists. Some square trays have a side waste, while others have a corner waste; ensure the design aligns with your existing drainage pipework to minimize installation headaches.
-
Weight & Material: Stone resin is exceptionally durable but heavy. Ensure your floor structure can support the weight of a stone resin tray, especially if you are installing it on an upper floor.
-
Watertight Integrity: We strongly recommend using high-quality flexible tiling grout or a dedicated shower tray sealing strip. This is the most effective way to prevent future water ingress behind your wall panels or tiles.
